  1. Submission Statement: The emergency measures which the Pakistani government has just announced are really drastic–comparable to nothing as much as the COVID Lockdowns. These will now impact 250+ million people in one of the poorest countries in Asia. I’m not familiar with Pakistan’s internal politics, so will not comment on how this might effect things.

    Besides its importance from a human impact perspective, this has the potential to have ripple effects in other countries. Pakistan is a nuclear power, it borders and has an extended history of conflict with India, it is currently waging a war with Afghanistan, and directly borders Iran. Notably, the Baluch insurgency in southeastern Iran is active on both sides of the border, so it is conceivable that an economic crisis in Pakistan, combined with instability and conflict in Iran, could lead to a surge in problems in that region.

    With this crisis, I understood its not oil that south asian govts India especially should be scared off. Its LPG that needs to be the one they are scared off

    India is fine with oil but they are starting to struggle with LPG as well. Hope russia and others sell it
