Trump should be more focused on issues like this. Manufacturing and supply chains in the United States.
He loves a deal, but he also loves to be remembered as a strong leader who doesn't show weakness. Surrendering Taiwan to the CCP would permanently stain his legacy and compromise American security. Holding the line on Taiwan isn't just about protecting an island 9,500 miles away; it's about preserving the global freedom we all rely on. I’m MAGA but we should have Taiwan as a prot4ection against the CCP!
Excerpt:
President Trump is making a bold push to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to American soil.
In his latest comments, Trump urged chip companies — particularly those based in Taiwan — to move their production facilities to the United States as soon as possible. He highlighted his recent conversations with Chinese President Xi Jinping and pointed to the growing tensions around Taiwan as a key reason for the urgency.

Any conflict involving Taiwan is going to hinder that supply chain. If we have to defend or give in, strategic supply is best to relocate that industry here.
It’s the only way to avoid a major conflict with the CCP at this point. China absolutely is going to make a play for Taiwan, they’ve been manufacturing the landing craft and submarines for years. The simulations have the USA winning the initial conflict the majority of the time, but with heavy losses and the fabs destroyed. I think Trump is thinking, if the fabs aren’t there, China might not see an invasion as worth it at this point, or the US won’t have a reason to defend Taiwan and risk WW12.
From taiwans side there is no incentive to move fabs to the US. The US is the only country willing and capable of helping defend them.
Why buy the cow if the milk is free?
All that will happen at best is tsmc moving antiquated equipment to placate the US with no significant benefit. The US companies in his ear would benefit from a conflict that destroys the fabs. I doubt it is a coincidence that the $120B in US fabs come online the year that China is expected to to make a move for Taiwan.
